Although Morrissey’s been recovering from his recent fight with a bleeding ulcer and Barrett’s esophagus, one his first dates back will offer the animal rights activist and vegetarian a pretty major consolation prize. The Staples Center in Los Angeles has agreed, for the first time ever, to make every vendor in and around the venue 100% vegetarian for his March 1 concert.
The Staples Center and promoter Goldenvoice will donate a portion of ticket proceeds to PETA.
Among the closed vendors are McDonald’s outlets. In a press release, Morrissey said, “I don’t look upon it as a victory for me, but a victory for the animals.” The release also states that the Staples Center previously denied that same request to Paul McCartney.
Patti Smith is also on the bill for that show.
