In a recent interview with the Australian website Junior Online, OutKast MC Big Boi says that he’s already recorded a ton of music for his next album, the follow-up to last year’s excellent Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty. In the interview, Big Boi says that he’s completed 17 songs for the album, tentatively titled Daddy Fat Sax: Soul Funk Crusader. Frequent collaborator Janelle Monáe guests. Excellent news!
Big Boi told Junior Online, “It’s going to be S-A-X-X-X triple unadulterated funk to the extremest level. Straight lyrical assassin, and the beats are going to be as hard hitting as always. I’mma let everything else be a surprise, and just let it speak for itself.”
Of course, it took Big Boi years of label politicking to release Sir Lucious Left Foot, so we probably shouldn’t hold our collective breath. But still! (Don’t forget that Big Boi is also helping out with the new Modest Mouse album.)
