Arctic Monkeys Start Planning Album Number Four

The ever-prolific Arctic Monkeys are planning on heading back to the studio in April, as soon as their tour of America finishes.

They’re also hoping they can work with Queens of the Stone Age’s creative force and frontman Josh Homme again, the man who held the reigns on previous album ‘Humbug.’

Speaking to BBC 6 Music, the band’s drummer Matt Helders said, “He promised he’d call, but he’s a busy man. We had a great time. We’d love to work with him again in some capacity. It depends. When we’re ready to record again, he might be as well, but you know what he’s like, he’s a very busy man and in demand.”

Outlining their plans up until summer Helders said, “Detox. Then America, and then after that I think we’re quite eager to record some more.”

Continuing, he said, “It’s exciting to be in the studio. We had a lot of fun last time, so it’s kinda the bit that we enjoy the most. Obviously going on tour is a lot of fun and amazing, so I wouldn’t have one without the other, but I think at the moment we’re quite ready to get back into it.”

Arctic Monkeys won ‘Best Live Act’ at Wednesday’s (Feb. 24) NME Awards, but have declared they will not be performing at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

Arctic Monkey’s bassist Nick O’Malley said: “I think we wouldn’t want to blow it. We’d rather come back after we’d done an album and play it again, and do it properly.”

As to the plans for the fourth album, O’Malley said: “We’ve been talking about a few ideas, like doing it really fast. Who knows? Definitely the wings are aloft, so who knows?”

The band are scheduled to play at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Mar. 27 as part of Roger Daltrey’s Teenage Cancer Trust charity series. After that they head to America, where they will play these dates:
