Thrill Jockey Turns 15 With London Bash, Boxed Set
Chicago indie label Thrill Jockey will celebrate its 15th birthday with a Nov. 11-12 series of shows at London’s Koko. The first day will run from early afternoon into the wee hours with performances by Trans Am, the Sea & Cake, the Fiery Furnaces, Califone and the Zincs. The next night, Tortoise, Bobby Conn, ADULT. and new roster addition KTL will play.
As part of the celebration, Thrill Jockey has commissioned Girl Talk’s Gregg Gillis and Frank Musarra (under the Trey Told ‘Em moniker) to create a megamix of music from throughout the label’s history that will be given out for free to show attendees.
In addition, a Chicago birthday event with acts to be announced is being penciled in for December, according to a label spokesperson.
Last but not least, Thrill Jockey is prepping a 7-inch vinyl boxed set featuring label artists covering one another’s songs. The track list and release date have yet to be finalized.
