New Death Cab EP on Barsuk.

Death Cab For Cutie will offer its final release on longtime indie home Barsuk Records next month, in the form of the seven-track live set “The John Byrd EP.” The collection was recorded during the band’s 2004 spring tour and will be available beginning March 1 only at select independent retail locations. Fans who order via Barsuk’s Web site will receive a limited edition T-shirt. The EP includes “We Laugh Indoors,” “We Looked Like Giants,” “405,” “Why You’d Want To Live Here,” “Lightness,” “Photobooth” and “Blacking Out the Friction,” the latter of which is appended with a cover of Sebadoh’s “Brand New Love,” itself previously covered by Superchunk. Death Cab is in the midst of recording its debut album for Atlantic Records, which is expected by the end of the year or early 2006. (Via Billboard)
