John Peel dies aged 65

Veteran DJ John Peel, 65, has died. He suffered a heart attack shortly after being taken ill during a working holiday in the city of Cuzco, Peru, with his wife Sheila. John Peel was a DJ on BBC Radio 1 since it was founded. His evening radio show occupied a unique position in British popular music, popularising such diverse acts as Jimi Hendrix, Marc Bolan and the Sex Pistols. "He passed away. We don't have any details. We received a phone call at 4am from his brother to inform us," said Jonathan Clare, a British embassy official in Lima. The BBC in London said Peel was on a working holiday in Cuzco with his wife, Sheila. Radio 1 Controller Andy Parfitt said "John Peel was a broadcasting legend. I am deeply saddened by his death as are all who work at Radio 1. John's influence has towered over the development of popular music for nearly four decades and his contribution to modern music and music culture is immeasurable. "Hopeful bands all over the world sent their demo tapes to John knowing that he really cared. His commitment and passion for new music only grew stronger over the years. In fact, when I last saw him he was engaged in a lively debate with his fellow DJs over the state of new music today. He will be hugely missed. " The BBC's director of radio and music, Jenny Abramsky, said: "John Peel was a unique broadcaster whose influence on Radio 1 could be felt from its very first days. "He nurtured musicians and listeners alike introducing them to new sounds. His open minded approach to music was mirrored by his equally generous approach to his audience when he went to Radio 4 to present Home Truths. He had a remarkable rapport with all his listeners. Everyone at BBC Radio is devasted by the news. John is simply irreplaceable. Our hearts go out to Sheila and his children." Peel, born John Ravenscroft in 1939, was one of Britain's original pirate radio disc jockeys in the 1960s, broadcasting from ships anchored just outside British waters that won huge followings. Peel was his assumed "pirate" name. In the late 1970s he championed punk rock to the consternation of many of his radio contemporaries who were still playing rock supergroups - and were convinced the new music fad would never had any real impact. Peel was awarded an OBE for his services to British music.

Rilo Kiley: Adventures And Nudity In The Studio

Rilo Kiley have to speak up. The band members are sitting in a semi-circle, in a little bunker/dressing-room directly under the stage at the Horseshoe, and the opening band is a noisy one. The walls are painted black and a single light bulb is making this all feel a lot like an interrogation. Their new record, More Adventurous, has a decidedly accurate title — seeing the indie-pop band take stabs at country, punk, stadium rock and electro-pop. In an active bid to experiment and expand, the band worked with several producers, including Dntel’s Jimmy Tamborello, Beachwood Sparks’ Dave Scher and Jimmy Eat World producer Mark Trombino. Ultimately though, all the musical and stylistic excursions were passed through another producer, Mike Mogis. "The whole thing ended up going through the Mogis filter, because he mixed the record and kinda produced everything as a whole," says singer Jenny Lewis. "Which hopefully tied it up a bit, and made it feel slightly more cohesive." The album was recorded in a Nebraska deep-freeze last winter, with the band cooped up in a studio for hours on end. "I think it definitely had an effect on how the record came out," says drummer Jason Boesel. "Certainly we all went a little nuts and that’s unavoidably mixed into the way our performances came out." Lewis is not so sure. "I think we would’ve gone crazy in the summertime too," she says. "I feel that’s just where we were at. We were obsessing over mixes and we were frustrated with certain things. Making anything, you have a tendency to overanalyze." In the push to perfect the songs, Lewis ended up naked in the studio at one point. Having tried everything else to put the right spin on her vocals for "I Never," Lewis stripped down in a secluded booth during one late-night session. The resulting take is a standout on the album. "I had done a bunch of different passes at that song, over the five weeks we were there," she explains. "And none of them were quite right. Blake (Sennett, guitarist) and I were alone in the studio together and it was just an idea that came up. I don’t know if it really influenced it, or if at that point it would have gotten there anyway, clothed or nude. It was just a funny thing to experiment with." The lyrics of More Adventurous are as experimental as the music, with Lewis trying out a variety of forms and points-of-view. "I don’t think I made a decision to write in a certain way," she says. "I think, just writing songs, at a certain point you want to talk about things other than relationships and explore different perspectives. But the songs just came about. And I think in response to that, the songs I’m writing now are way more traditional. I feel the shift." The bandmates also have new experiences to bring to the table. Following some success with their last CD, 2002’s The Execution Of All Things, they each split off into side projects. Lewis sang with The Postal Service, Sennett fronted The Elected and Boesel recorded with Bright Eyes."But I think this is easier for us," says Lewis. "This feels like coming home." "You come back to the band with different perspectives," adds Boesel. "In the darkest times it gives you something else to look forward to, and in the best of times you use what you’ve learned.""And it’s always good in arguments," mocks Lewis. "Because you can always be like ‘Forget you! I’m just gonna go do this other thing! I hate you anyway!’

Thurston Moore to pen liner notes for upcoming Nirvana Boxset

Sonic Youth guitarist/vocalist Thurston Moore has penned the liner notes for the highly anticipated Nirvana boxed set "With the Lights Out," due Nov. 23 via DGC/Universal. Late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain was an admitted Sonic Youth fanatic; the two bands' 1991 European tour is chronicled on the following year's home video "1991: The Year That Punk Broke." Moore's notes will appear in the boxed set's 60-page booklet, featuring unpublished photos and an indepth chronology. Although it appears no specific track will be worked to U.S. radio outlets as a single, stations are expected to receive a five-song sampler of tracks from the 81-track collection.

White Stripes Rock 'Under Blackpool Lights'

Third Man/V2 has set a Dec. 7 release date for the White Stripes' first live DVD, "Under Blackpool Lights." As previously reported, the set was taped earlier this year at the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool, England, and shot on super 8 and 16 mm film by famed director Dick Carruthers (the Who, Led Zeppelin). Screenings are in the works for select U.S. cities prior to the release date. Beyond such rock radio favorites as "Seven Nation Army," "There's No Home for You Here," "The Hardest Button to Button" and "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground," the DVD sports covers of Dolly Parton's "Jolene," Bob Dylan's "Outlaw Blues" and Son House's "Death Letter." "Jolene" will be released Nov. 15 as a single in the U.K., backed by live versions of "Black Math" and "Do." The Stripes are gearing up to begin work on the follow-up to 2003's "Elephant," which debuted at No. 6 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 1.62 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Here is the track list for "Under Blackpool Lights":
"When I Hear My Name"
"Black Math"
"Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground"
"I Think I Smell a Rat"
"Take a Whiff on Me"
"Astro"
"Outlaw Blues"
"Jack the Ripper"
"Jolene"
"Hotel Yorba"
"Death Letter"
"Do"
"The Hardest Button to Button"
"Truth Doesn't Make a Noise"

OutKast's The Love Below movie is reportedly in jeopardy due to an ailing budget and the group's erratic behavior.

According to The Scoop, HBO executives are struggling to keep the project afloat. Sources say the flick is weeks behind schedule and millions of dollars over budget. advertisement"The director [Bryan Barber] seems to have lost control, but HBO can't fire him because he's a big buddy of OutKast - practically the third member of the group," an insider told The Scoop. "[He directed OutKast's videos] brilliantly, but there's a big difference between directing a video and directing a movie." Word is HBO has written to Andre 3000 about missing days on the set and executives have even flown to Wilmington, NC, where production is taking place in attempt to restore order. A HBO spokesperson denied that the project was heading downhill. In addition, the rep stated that Andre and Big Boi have shown professionalism and that Barber is directing the flick in the right direction. "(He) is the right man for the project. We love him," the spokesperson told The Scoop. "The film will speak for itself. We're very happy with it."

QOTSA Eyeing New Album In March

Queens Of The Stone Age is eyeing a March release for its third Interscope album. The as-yet-untitled set finds group leader Josh Homme flanked by multi-instrumentalist Troy Van Leeuwen, drummer Joey Castillo, guitarist Dave Catching and bassist Alain Johannes, the latter of whom is filling the bass slot left empty after the departure of Nick Oliveri earlier this year. According to the band's official Web site, QOTSA will return to the studio in the weeks ahead to record new tunes Homme says "can't wait a year or two to be on the record after this one." As previously reported, the group has been joined in the studio by Garbage vocalist Shirley Manson, Distillers frontwoman Brody Dalle and ZZ Top guitarist Billy F. Gibbons, but it's unknown if their contributions will make the final cut. A horn section has also appeared on at least one tune. The new album will be the follow-up to 2002's "Songs for the Deaf," which peaked at No. 17 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 909,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Homme has also been busy producing the upcoming album from rock act Millionaire, and will reprise his role behind the drum stool for the Eagles Of Death Metal's Nov. 7 show as part of the All Tomorrow's Parties festival in Long Beach, Calif. In addition, QOTSA's site reports that Oliveri recently turned up for an Eagles Of Death Metal show in Los Angeles, suggesting he and Homme have begun patching up the problems that led to the bassist's departure. "They may not be playin' together but they sure seemed like old friends genuinely glad to be hangin' out together," the site reports.

Flaming Lips Dreaming Up New Sound Collages

The Flaming Lips have begun work on their next Warner Bros. studio album with longtime producer Dave Fridmann. However, Lips frontman Wayne Coyne admits to us, "It isn't as though we have an album's worth of songs ready to go. We have maybe five or six things that have some shape to them, but we're not in any real hurry to say, 'Let's get these in shape and put them out.'" The reason? The group is busy with any number of other projects, including shooting a video in Austin, Texas, this week for "SpongeBob & Patrick Confront the Psychic Wall of Energy," which has been tapped as the first single from Warner Bros.' "SpongeBob SquarePants" movie soundtrack. Work is also resuming on the Lips' long-in-the-works feature film, "Christmas on Mars." But Coyne says the songs committed to tape so far, including "Time Travel??," "Mr. Ambulance Driver" and "Space Bible," point at exciting new directions for the ever-evolving Lips. "Some of this new stuff hints at more of a collage of classical, jazz, rock and folk, all sometimes happening within in the framework of the same song, but not a collection of cliched sounds," he says. "We just want to get a strange collection of moods." "Have you seen those ads in the back of Reader's Digest where you can send in a poem and have it set to music? They are so strange and unique," Coyne continues. "Sometimes, I kick myself that we haven't done something of this ilk, where there's no limits or embarrassment. Are we being retarded or super-geniuses? You just don't really care. I don't know if ["Time Travel??"] will make the album, but it was a lot of fun to do when you're reaching for new stuff. It's about time travel, but not something that will be invented by scientists. It's something we already have within the power of our own minds -- we can transcend living and breathing and travel through our own memories." The new album, tentatively titled "At War With the Mystics," will be the follow-up to 2002's "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots." That set has sold a career-best 398,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Meanwhile, during a recent session at Fridmann's Tarbox Road Studio in upstate New York, the Lips also began work on a 5.1 Surround Sound mix of their acclaimed 1999 release "The Soft Bulletin," tentatively due next spring. "That, of all the records we've done, is really the only one that had seven or eight other songs we didn't release," Coyne says. "For fans of that record, this is going to be a very cool item. I can talk about the songs and the making of them, and it will have these little psychedelic cartoons in the spirit of the album. 'The Soft Bulletin' gave us such a different perspective and a new life -- there's a richness there that will be fun to go back and revisit." As for "Christmas on Mars," Coyne says "about half" of the film is still left to be shot. "I'm building the sets myself and I write everything out that people say," he adds. "It's not all my ideas, but as much of the Flaming Lips are in this as can be." "At the moment, we're thinking of releasing a DVD of the movie and a bunch of extras with behind-the-scenes footage, along with a CD that is basically the soundtrack, but also some pieces that go beyond what's in the movie," Coyne says. "Bands limit themselves to thinking, 'This is what I do. I'm just in a band.' But I figured, let's do movies! Let's do soundtracks! Let's do it all ourselves!" "In the best of both worlds, we'd have a new Flaming Lips album by the summer of 2005 and a Flaming Lips movie in the fall of 2005," he concludes. "You can only be one person in one place at one time, but if you make a movie, you can be a lot of places at the same time!"

About Japancakes:
This Athens, Georgia group defies standard musical categories. The songs often build from a single chord to which the band adds complex layers of cello, pedal steel guitar, old 70s keyboards, found sounds, and waves of lush guitars. This music manages to be great mood music that also merits close attention, revealing all kinds of hidden gems in the many layers of sounds. This is complex, beautiful, and innovative music. About National Grain:

Pulling from influences such as Uncle Tupelo, George Jones and The Replacements. National Grain's music is something akin to country, rock and honky-tonk strained through and old AM radio. The music is conceived, written, practiced, performed and should be enjoyed while surrounded by cigarette smoke and beer. LISTEN TO NATIONAL GRAIN

Tom Waits:: Real Gone (Album Review)

It use to be a plunger, a washboard, a hammer, a toy whistle, clothespins and some Dodge product lug nuts, were things found in your shed, not the basic backing tracks of a new TOM WAITS CD. But Tom has kinda taken a liking to these "instruments" over the last ten to fifteen years, and left such conventional means as a guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, horns, and vocals behind. His latest, "Real Gone," picks up where 1992's clankfest "Bone Machine" left off. Is that a good thing? Not so sure. Don't get me wrong, I love Waits! And "Mule Variations" had some incredible bits on it. But, it's getting real difficult to listen to any of his recent releases. When you need an electron microscope to detect any actual tunes amidst the wheezing and grinding, that's not necessarily a good thing. At this point a Waits record is no more enjoyable than a traffic jam or eating lunch next to a contruction site. From his debut, "Closing Time," up until his masterpiece "Rain Dogs," (the last record to perfectly mix the Tom of old with the Tom of new) a Waits record was something that needed repeated listenings to savor every story and heartfelt melody. Now, one listen to any of his last five or six releases does little more than hurt your fillings. I'm sure he still has it in him to make some great songs, and for all we know he did it on "Real Gone." It's just hard to tell when he's playing them on a carburetor. Come back, Tom.(Buy it anyway, I ordered a lot of them!) Sal- NYCD

Brian Wilson:: Smile (Album Review)

Disclaimer #1-I, in the not so distant past, have attended Beach Boys’ Conventions.
Disclaimer #2-I apologize in advance to any non Beach Boys fans for assuming that you know what I’m talking about.
I was expecting fireworks, parades, heck, at least front page photos of Brian’s lopsided grin. Nothing. Well, there was the obvious geeked out feature from Mojo. But come on, This is the single greatest moment in pop music history. “Smile” is here for real. Thirty-eight years after its’ original inception, this “teenage symphony to God” can be had for the princely sum of fifteen dollars. This is monumental. Thirty-eight years of speculation, bootlegs, rumor, insanity, and pain. And here we are in 2004 with the most beautiful music ever made. Except this is not the “Smile” we expected. This is not the “Smile” we have anticipated forever. But this is Brian’s ‘Smile”, the one he was finally able to make. Thank God for Melinda Wilson. Thank God for Darian Sahanaja. And thank God for Van Dyke Parks. They all had a hand in finally bringing the most legendary unfinished album in history to light. Instead of patching together the album started back in 1966, Brian and his new band, The Wondermints, alongside the Stockholm Strings, went back in the studio and recorded a whole new version of “Smile”. Why? Perhaps the ghosts of 1966 were too ugly to overcome for Brian. Or maybe he just wanted a brand new version recorded with folks who actually believed in him. Sadly, the original Beach Boys rarely did. Especially Mike Love, who scoffed at the surreal lyrics and wanted the gravy train of car and surf songs to go on forever. But for those of you who have listened to the bootlegs, they were magic. Pure, unbelievable magic. Fingers crossed, one day, they might be released as a box set, ala “Pet Sounds”. But for now we have this. Starting with the otherworldly “Our Prayer”, wandering through the familiar(Heroes and Villains, Cabin Essence, Surf’s Up, Good Vibrations) and the obscure(Song for Children, Child is the Father of Man, The Elements), “Smile” is now complete, just like Brian envisioned it. And I am ecstatic. And you should be too. If this record had been released back in 1967, the Beach Boys name would be spoken in the same breath as the Beatles, et al, not thought of as some sad State Fair circuit band they are today. But then again, maybe the world wasn’t ready then for what is undoubtedly the most beautiful music ever. I know Brian wasn’t. So, buy this record. It is unbelievable. And go see the “Smile” tour happening right now. It is a joy to finally behold Brian Wilson on stage with people he loves, and who love him. (Review by: DJ My Little Pony)

Howard Stern jumps to satellite

Ending months of speculation, shock jock announces he's joining Sirius satellite radio in 2006. NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Howard Stern announced Wednesday that he is taking his morning radio show to satellite radio. Stern will join Sirius Satellite Radio starting January 2006 in what is being billed as a five-year, multimillion dollar contract. Calling satellite radio "the next big thing," Stern said on his morning radio show that commercial radio is no longer a safe haven for shock jocks like him."The SuperBowl did us in," said Stern, a reference to this year's half-time show when Janet Jackson exposed her breast during a live performance. Viacom-owned CBS, which broadcast the game, was fined $550,000 last week for the incident. The episode touched off a public outcry about indecency on the airwaves. That sentiment eventually led Clear Channel Communications, the country's No. 1 radio operator, to pull the "Howard Stern Show" off the six stations that carried it. It also led to renewed calls for federal legislation that would boost fines for programming deemed indecent and offensive from $27,500 to as much as $500,000 per violation. Far from waning over time, the intensity behind the furor has only increased. Congress is still considering whether to raise fines. "It's time to go," Stern said on his program Wednesday morning, noting that he hasn't been happy for a long time. "I believe more in satellite than I do in radio." Stern suggested that his announcement would come as a surprise to officials at Infinity Broadcasting, which broadcasts his morning show in 46 markets around the country and is a unit of Viacom. Infinity Broadcasting did not immediately respond to the news. Stern's employment contract runs through the end of 2005. He said he expects to continue broadcasting on Infinity stations until then. Stern is not the only shock jock eyeing satellite radio, a subscription-based, commercial-free medium that, like cable television, is largely unregulated. On Monday, the "Opie & Anthony" show debuted on Sirius' larger rival, XM Satellite Radio. The move by Gregg "Opie" Hughes and Anthony Cumia comes two years after they were dumped by Infinity Broadcasting over a stunt in which they broadcast descriptions of listeners having sex in public places, including St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York. Radio industry analysts said that other lower-profile shock jocks are also in discussions with satellite radio operators. But analysts warned that satellite radio operators have reason to tread carefully. Conservative groups have called on Congress to regulate cable and satellite operators. If Congress boosts indecency fines, satellite and cable regulation could rise to the forefront, analysts said. Sirius officials, however, were clearly jubilant. "This is a watershed event for the industry," said Sirius CEO Joseph Clayton during an analyst call. He said it established satellite radio as the successor to FM radio, the same way that FM replaced AM radio years ago. "Sirius Satellite Radio is where the excitement, creativity and energy that FM once had is gravitating to, today and tomorrow," said Clayton. Stern has made a bundle, not just for himself but for Infinity Broadcasting. Analysts estimate that Stern & Co. brings in roughly $25 million a year in profits for Infinity. So is satellite radio a buy? Clayton said Wednesday that Stern's show costs $100 million a year to run, including salaries. To break even, he said Sirius would need to add one million new subscribers, a feat that he said should be easy to achieve. "Howard Stern is the most valuable personality in radio today."
Sirius (SIRI: up $0.52 to $3.87, Research, Estimates) stock jumped in morning trading.

Lynn Sues Music Publishing Company

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Country singer Loretta Lynn is trying to gain the copyright to "Coal Miner's Daughter" and other of her hit songs. In a lawsuit filed this week in Chancery Court, Lynn asks a judge to void a contract she signed with Sure-Fire Music Co. in 1966 awarding the company copyrights to her songs. The complaint says the company's ownership changes should give Lynn the rights to the music. The company has the rights to 114 songs written or co-written by Lynn, including "You're Lookin' at Country," "You Ain't Woman Enough" and the 1969 tune that became her signature song, "Coal Miner's Daughter." Sure-Fire was owned in 1966 by Teddy and Doyle Wilburn, who as the Wilburn Brothers were one of the most celebrated brother duos in country music. Both are now dead, and Teddy Wilburn's estate is the subject of a family fight in Probate Court in Nashville. Lynn says in the suit that a contract she had with Sure-Fire gave her the right to terminate the agreement if ownership of the company changed hands. "The music industry is built on relationships, and Loretta Lynn had a long one with Teddy and Doyle Wilburn, the original managers of Sure-Fire Music Co.," the singer's manager, Nancy Russell, said in a statement. "Sure-Fire enjoyed the benefits of Loretta's success as a songwriter and entertainer for more than 40 years. Sadly, as we all know, Teddy and Doyle are no longer at the helm of Sure-Fire." Doyle Wilburn died in 1982, and his brother Teddy died last November. Lynn met the Wilburn brothers while promoting her first album in Nashville. At the time, they were a top country group running a music enterprise and having both a syndicated TV show and a touring act. She entered into a series of business agreements with the brothers in 1961 and signed an exclusive songwriter's agreement with Sure-Fire, according to the suit. While forming those agreements, Lynn had no independent representation and was represented by the same attorney who represented Sure-Fire, the lawsuit says. Officials with Sure-Fire did not return a phone message left in their office.

Kingblind is so happy to have these two amazing bands playing together. This will be the CD Release party for the new Japancakes record For complete up to the second info CLICK HERE

Special Guest: Paul Melancon
Paul writes depressing songs that sound upbeat, and upbeat songs that sound depressing. Paul has been graced with an unusually gifted voice and a knack for writing well-crafted pop songs hiding disturbed and defective characters inside. His tools are the bittersweet melody, lyrical depth, and sardonic wit found in fellow artists such as Michael Penn, Neil Finn and Elvis Costello. When whipped into a frenzy, they can shake and pop like a drunk Nick Lowe.

RIYL: Yo La Tengo, Wilco, Stereolab, Flaming Lips, Hank Williams, Godspeed You Black Emperor!, Calexico, Uncle Tupelo.

GIAMPINO HOT WAX
The Scott Giampino Record Drive
Weds. Oct. 20, 2004 – 9 pm till close
The Mirabeau Room
529 Queen Anne Ave. North
Seattle, Wa 98115
(206) 217-0654

Featuring DJ Self Administered Beatdown, DJ El Toro, DJ Cherry Canoe, and Freddy, King of Pants
On the morning of Friday, August 6, 2004, Scott Giampino – a k a DJ Self Adminstered Beatdown – and his family were the victims of arson. They lost virtually everything they own… including Scott's record collection, which included several thousand vintage LPs of funk, punk, soul, garage and classic, as well his antique jukebox full of original 45s. Insurance will replace many of the possessions Scott, Ali and young Max lost as a consequence of this malicious crime. But as any good record collector knows, no insurance company in the world can replace all the music that went up in flames, nor will the compensation afforded Scott reflect all the years and energy (to say nothing of cash) he had devoted to amassing his record collection. To expedite the rebuilding of Scott's record collection, kingblind.com and a lot of well-meaning Seattle music fans present GIAMPINO HOT WAX, a non-stop dance party on Weds., Oct. 20 at The Mirabeau Room in Lower Queen Anne. Perhaps you know Scott from his days at Touch & Go, or behind the drum kit of Cash Audio, or from the Triple Door or the Showbox. Maybe you or one of your bands has worked with Ali via Billions. Perhaps Max drops by for play dates with your son or daughter. Or maybe you're just a well-meaning DJ or music lover who knows how hard it would suck to lose your record collection. Regardless, we're reaching out to you.
To gain admission to all the party, all you have to do is any one of the following 3 things:

a) CLICK HERE and select one of the titles at the registry of LPs lost, furnished by the man, the myth, the bacon-lover himself, Scott Giampino. PLEASE PRINT OUT THE LIST AND EMAIL GIAMPINO@KINGBLIND.COM and we will update it with what has been purchased. Show up at the party with said record under your arm, surrender it joyously to Scott as you arrive, and commence drinking and dancing while the tunes spin;

b) Show up with a gift certificate worth $5 or more to any Seattle independent record store. Sonic Boom Records, Easy Street Records, Everyday Music, Respect Records, and Jive Time are all good choices.

c) Simply pony up $5 cash at the door, and trust that Scott will spend it wisely on new (and used) vinyl.

IF YOU LIVE OUTSIDE OF SEATTLE, YOU CAN STILL PARTICIPATE:
a) CLICK HERE and follow the directions above. But instead of delivering the LP in person, mail it to:
Giampino Hot Wax
c/o Kurt B. Reighley
4509 Interlake Ave. North, #329
Seattle, WA 98103

b) Send a gift certificate, for any amount, from any independent record store with an online sales presence, to the address above. Good choices besides the aforementioned vendors include Dusty Groove (www.dustygroove.com), Other Music (www.othermusic.com), Forced Exposure (www.forcedexposure.com), or Aquarius Records (www.aquariusrecords.org).

Questions? E-mail DJ El Toro at kurt@thestranger.com We look forward to seeing you on Oct. 20th at the Mirabeau Room!
