Hawkins slashes hand

Justin Hawkins is reported to have seriously damaged his right hand. The Sunday Mirror reported yesterday that The Darkness frontman accidentally put his hand through a stained glass window on Saturday night. A source told the tabloid: “Justin’s been in agony since it happened and just feels angry that his fans could be let down.” “He was kept in overnight while the hand was worked on by an orthopaedic surgeon and is under strict orders to look after himself now.” “A procedure [reconnected] severed tendons on the back of his hand. He should retain about 90 per cent use of the hand – as long as the healing process is unhindered.” “Justin is praying he’ll be able to pick his guitar up again soon.” He discharged himself from London’s Princess Grace Hospital yesterday and is now said to be recovering at his £2million home in north London. The Darkness are set to begin a 13-date arena tour on November 24 in Nottingham. In a statement released today, The Darkness’ record label Atlantic said: “Justin Hawkins has sustained a slight injury to his right hand. There was no altercation as was alleged.” “This injury poses no threat to their arena tour or his participation in the Band Aid single. Justin is able to play his guitar with his continued flair and is currently in tour rehearsals.”
