Amon Tobin scores video game soundtrack

Electronica artist Amon Tobin will create the soundtrack for the video game “Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory,” due out in time for the holiday season. Ninja Tune Records will release a companion soundtrack album with extended versions of the in-game music; a limited-edition disc mixed in 5.1 Surround Sound will arrive in the spring. “The development team members are true perfectionists, and we labored meticulously over every aspect of the sound design,” Tobin says. “No concessions were made that would compromise the integrity of the soundtrack, and that’s rare in a project of this scale.” Tobin’s next release will be “Solid Steel Presents: Recorded Live,” due Sept. 7 via Ninja Tune. Recorded in 2003 in Australia, the set finds Tobin weaving his own tracks through material from DJ Food, Jurassic 5, Icarus, Dizzee Rascal and the Velvet Underground.
