The Blues Explosion to Play Benefit for Acronym’s Sake, Tampa Bay International Airport

Alright, so they aren’t actually gonna play a benefit for an airport, but really, is it just The Blues Explosion? You’re sure it’s not The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion? Boy do I feel like an asshole. With the upcoming September 28th release of Damage on Sanctuary Records (not Matador this time out), Judah Bauer, Jon Spencer, and Russell Simins, the trio that is the everlasting Blues Explosion, has planned a 17-date November tour, including a performance at the end of this month in New Yawk, New Yawk. Following 2002’s Matador release of the highly touted Plastic Fang, the self promotinest band around has brought together a collection of producers and performers the likes of which shall buckle ye knees. Featured on Damage will be Plastic Fang producer, Steve Jordan, along with DJ Shadow, Dan the Automator, David Holmes, Alan Moulder, Chuck D, James Chance, Martina Topley-Bird (Tricky), and Elliot Smith. Also slated to appear on the album… well, let’s just read it in Mr. Spencer’s own words. “We even have some crazy guy playing shark’s teeth and sheep testicles! That’s right, we got the bite AND the balls!” The teeth and testicle comment has yet to be confirmed. The Blues is number one! I said the Blues is number one!!! (tinymixedtapes)
