Kingblind’s Album giveaway (Midnight Movies)

We are giving away 3 cd’s of Midnight Movies Self Titled Debut CD Just send an email to kingblind (at) gmail dot com with Midnight Movies as the subject and your name and address in the body of the message and we will randomly pick 3 winners!! Midnight Movies’ rich, haunting sound provides a backdrop that’s simultaneously endless and claustrophobic in the way that, say, a David Lynch film is inescapably David Lynch. Cinematic in its own right, the music is driving, spacey art-rock with psychedelic electronics coupled with eerie melodies sung by drummer and vocalist Gena Olivier, whose voice inhabits space as pervasively as dye inhabits water. The other two members of the band are guitarist Larry Schemel and keyboardist/guitarist Jason Hammons.

Epic Collects Screaming Trees’ ‘Songs’

The later years of Seattle rock act Screaming Trees will be celebrated with the upcoming compilation “Ocean of Confusion: Songs of Screaming Trees 1989-1996.” Due Nov. 9 via Epic/Legacy, the 20-track set is drawn from the Trees’ three Epic releases: 1991′s “Uncle Anesthesia,” 1993′s “Sweet Oblivion” and 1996′s “Dust.” The Trees played their last show in June 2000 at the opening of the Experience Music Project in Seattle. Lanegan has been the most prolific ex-member, having released six solo albums for Beggars Banquet and Sub Pop and recording/touring with Queens Of The Stone Age.

The Cramps Are Back!

Lux Interior and Poison Ivy are back to tour just in time for Halloween. The campy act are ready to perform previously un-released, rare tracks from their early ‘80s album, How to Make a Monster, on an upcoming tour. The Cramps’ rockabilly style and extreme antics onstage should make for some unforgettable shows you won’t want to miss. Trail Of Dead CD On Hold Until Next Year

The second-full length album from Texas-based rock act …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead has been pushed from its planned Oct. 5 release date to January, according to a post from group member Conrad Keely on TrailOfDead.org. Keely attributes the change to Interscope’s crowded schedule of high-profile fall releases from U2, No Doubt and Eminem. “They don’t want to have to dust ours under the rug,” he says. “This happens in the industry sometimes. There are other reasons, such as we don’t wash our hair and we need to take promo pictures.” The upcoming album is thought to be named “Worlds Apart.” Songs earmarked for the set include the title cut, “Caterwaul” and the epic “Will You Smile Again?,” which has been featured in Trail Of Dead’s 2004 live shows. The album will be the follow-up to 2002′s “Source Tags & Codes.” (BB)

RADIO SONGS

MOGWAI are releasing a selection of radio sessions this autumn. ‘Government Commissions (BBC Sessions 1996-2003)’ collects material from the post-rock Scots’ sessions for Radio 1’s John Peel and Evening Session shows. It precedes a new album next year and is released on October 25. Fresh from the Curiosa tour of the US, mainman Stuart Braithwaite said: “The reason we’re putting out this collection is simple, the recordings here are worth hearing. Some are definitely better than the official recordings. Some are sketchy but to be honest so are we. Sketchy but nice. Nicely sketchy.” (NME)

The tracklisting is:

* ’Hunted by A Freak’ (recorded at Maida Vale 21st May 2003)

* ’R U Still in 2 It’ (recorded at the Hippodrome 22nd December 1996)

Pearl Jam, Mudhoney, comedian David Cross, Queensryche, X’s John Doe and producer/multi-instrumentalist Jon Brion are among the acts confirmed to perform at No Vote Left Behind, a festival/political fundraiser to be held Sept. 23-26 at a variety of Seattle venues. The full lineup is still being finalized; tickets go on-sale Sept. 10. Other early confirmations include Grant Lee Phillips, John Vanderslice, Pansy Division, Delays, Kinski, Robbers On High Street, El Vez, Hedwig and the Angry Inch and members of Nada Surf and the Long Winters. Participating venues include the Showbox, the Crocodile Cafe, Sunset Tavern and Graceland. A kick-off event will be held Sept. 10 at Neumo’s, featuring Sir Mix-A-Lot, Outtasite and Children Of The Revolution. Proceeds from No Vote Left Behind will fund donations to the Democratic National Committee, progressive candidates in congressional races and like-minded political action groups. “There are a lot of other great organizations that are using music to increase voter turn-out and register voters,” says NVLB’s Chris Olson. “We want to use music more directly as a fundraising tool. We really want to be a partisan voice in the music community working for regime change.” (bb)

Kingblind.com Album Giveaway:: Rilo Kiley- “More Adventurous”

Kingblind has 3 albums to giveaway. This is an amazing album kids.. Just send an email to kingblind (at)gmail dot com and we will randomly pick 3 winners!

(You must have RILO KILEY as the SUBJECT and your name and mailing address in the body of the email.. )

“More Adventurous” is the brand new Rilo Kiley album, and it is – from the very first minute – simultaneously bold and understated, bombastic and intimate, and tragic and triumphant – an 11 track tribute to instability as a virtue. It’s an album full of uplifting songs of heartbreak, traditional pop from the future, country music from the city, and all other manner of oxymoronic perfection — RK’s stock in trade over the course of their bright lifetime as a band. The great irony of Rilo Kiley is that as they begin to become better known – they are now one of the true constants in indie rock, dependable and confident, and selling out shows all over the country – it would seem that their songs are becoming more and more personal. Listeners can’t help but believe that Rilo Kiley is singing just for them, but the fact is that the world at large could use these songs right now. In these unstable times of love and war, with countless miserable personal and political histories threatening to repeat themselves every day, we could all benefit from Rilo Kiley’s charge to lead by example and live a life more adventurous.

Ultra Rare Recordings Bolster Clash Classic

Five never-before-heard Clash songs highlight the upcoming Legacy Edition of “London Calling,” due Sept. 21 via Epic. As previously reported, the first disc of the set will feature a remastered version of the classic 1979 album, while the second disc sports 21 rehearsal sessions recordings dubbed “The Vanilla Tapes.” The DVD “The Last Testament — The Making of London Calling” comprises the third disc. Previously thought lost, cassettes of “The Vanilla Tapes” were recently discovered in storage by Clash guitarist Mick Jones. Of greatest interest for fans will be “Paul’s Tune,” which morphed into “The Guns of Brixton,” a cover of Bob Dylan’s “The Man in Me,” “Up-Toon,” which turned into “The Right Profile,” and an early version of “Clampdown” titled “Working and Waiting.” An in-progress take of the title cut reveals alternate lyrics and song structure, having not yet arrived at the snarling version eventually recorded for the album. Other unreleased items include the country-ish “Lonesome Me,” the reggae-leaning “Where You Gonna Go (Soweto),” “Heart and Mind” and the instrumental “Walkin’ the Slidewalk.” “The Last Testament” DVD, produced by longtime associate Don Letts, features 16 minutes of previously unreleased studio footage, promo videos, live clips and interviews with Jones, bassist Paul Simonon, late guitarist Joe Strummer and drummer Topper Headon and with band manager Kosmo Vinyl.

Here is “The Vanilla Tapes” (Billboard) track list:

“Hateful”

“Rudie Can’t Fail”

New Teenage Fanclub album in the works

(News directly from the band) We spent five weeks (Late February through March) in Chicago, recording a new album with John McEntire at Soma Electronic Studio’s (three Michelin stars). We go back there in mid June to complete the session. We’re looking at having the record in the shops sometime around October/November 2004. We are extremely happy with the way things are going.

Foos Wittling Down Five Hours Of Material

The Foo Fighters are about to begin pre-production on their next studio album, which, as first revealed here last month, will likely be a double-disc set. “Having a year to write and demo things at your own pace sure makes for better songs,” frontman Dave Grohl writes on the Foos’ official Web site. “In preparing for today’s pre-production, I dumped all of the things I’ve recorded onto my computer and I wound up with five-and-a-half hours of music. I just laughed.” Explaining his hopes for a double LP with one disc each of acoustic and electric material, Grohl says, “I’d love to have an album that requires us to stretch farther in both directions, eliminating any middle ground. The idea also comes from the fact that we’ve always explored both dynamics, just not to their fullest potential. Why not get heavier? Or quieter? Why try and cram all of that onto one CD? Why not make two albums, and call it one?” Grohl is in the midst of rebuilding his Virginia home studio in Los Angeles. “We came up with a plan: Buy a warehouse,” he says. “Build a bigger, better studio. Have a massive space to store our mountains of gear that we’ve amassed over the past decade. Have somewhere to jam that we don’t have to move out of at the end of the week. A full-on headquarters, designed to further the idea of self-sufficiency. We will never have to go anywhere else as long as we live.” The lone date on the Foos’ upcoming schedule is Aug. 28 at San Diego’s Street Scene festival, but the band’s name is already being whispered as part of a major package tour next summer. “I’m dying to get this sh*t on tape and play it live,” Grohl says. “The whole album every night — Something we haven’t done in a long, long time.” As for his drum work on Nine Inch Nails’ forthcoming Interscope album, “Bleed Through,” Grohl enthuses, “you’re gonna flip when you hear [it].”

White Stripes To Split?

The White Stripes are about to split according to Jack White’s nephew Ben Blackwell (of The Dirtbombs). Blackwell claims that the ‘Seven Nation Army’ duo are on the verge of a break-up as Jack wants to continue with his solo work. “Jack hasn’t spoken directly to me about it, but the word in Detroit is that the White Stripes are near-done,” explained Blackwell. “He could certainly live off The White Stripes’ legacy for the rest of his life. And that’s the best motivator, he can do whatever he wants now and he doesn’t have to worry about whether it’s safe or commercially viable,” reports 6Music. Jack’s solo work includes an appearance in film ‘Cold Mountain’, and producing country star Loretta Lynn’s new album ‘Van Lear Rose’ (please keep in mind that this is an unconfirmed rumor.. We are checking with our sources in Detriot to confirm this.)

UPDATE:: according to a spokesperson for the band. “It’s horse shit!!” they said, “that’s the official line. They’re headlining Reading for frigs sake.. THE WHITE STRIPES ARE NOT BREAKING UP..

Along with the live performances the evening will include a “once in a lifetime exhibition of Ramones memorabilia.” The Avalon (then called The Palace) was the location of the Ramones’ final show in 1996. Australian artists say “time to go Mr Prime Minister” and release “Rock Against Howard” album

Proving once again that “us Aussies can do anything as good as you Yanks”, a group of Australian artists including Something For Kate, The Fauves, 78 Saab and Youth Group, have combined mind-sets to release a 34 track double compilation album with one very simple and very clear goal – outing current Australian Prime Minister John Howard. Yes that’s right America, our idiot is just as good as your idiot, he just doesn’t have as many bombs at his disposal. The concept for the album “Rock Against Howard” came about when Frenzal Rhomb guitarist Lindsay McDougall realised every musician he knew felt the same way he did about the Aussie PM, and wanted to do something about it. From the press release: “Twenty odd shit hot Aussie artists, from all over the musical sphere, coming together against the common evil, as usual, the bloody libs. We’re not saying vote Labor, we’re not saying vote Green, we’re not saying vote Democrat or Socialist, just don’t bloody vote Liberal.” The situation is seemingly so dire even the Australian Senator for Queensland Andrew Bartlett has formed an 80’s supergroup and recorded a track for the album, proving once again that drastic times do indeed call for drastic measures. No idea why the public should suffer but it is all for a good cause. All artists have wholly donated their time and efforts with all profits going directly to pro-refugee and anti-Howard charities, to be distributed around the country by the Refugee Action Coalition. “Rock Against Howard” is out August 16 through Shock Records. Rolling Stones drummer battles throat cancer

LONDON, England (Reuters) — The Rolling Stones’ 63-year-old drummer Charlie Watts is suffering from throat cancer but should recover after radiotherapy, a band spokesman said Saturday. Watts was diagnosed in June after a minor operation and is now reaching the end of his treatment at a London hospital, the spokesman said in a statement to British media. “He’s expected to make a full recovery and start work with the rest of the band later in the year,” he added. Watts, who has a reputation as the quietest member of the legendary British band, gave up smoking decades ago. “He’s very positive because he’s been told he has every chance of being completely cured,” a family friend was quoted as saying in The Mail Sunday newspaper. “The last thing he wants is everyone calling and making a fuss, thinking he’s going to die.” The spokesman said Watt’s treatment had not interfered with any of the Stones’ tour or recording plans. The rest of the group were “relaxing between work commitments,” he said.

THAT GREAT NEW SOUND!

THE RAVONETTES have started recording 20 songs for their new album. The band are currently working on songs which will feature on the follow-up to ’Chain Gang Of Love’. Speaking in an online journal, singer the group revealed that recording is going well, and that there’s the chance the record will feature some guest musicians. Sune Rose Wagner said: “We’re in beautiful NYC recording vocals for the album. The songs are really coming together now and we’re very thrilled. We’re also contemplating some great guest performances so stay tuned for that…it could turn out to be unreal!!! We’re recording at Joe Blaney’s studio in Greenwich Village and it sounds wonderful.” The album is set for release either later this year or early next. (NME)

QOTSA Get A Lift From Manson, Dalle

Queens Of The Stone Age were recently visited in the studio by Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson and the Distillers’ Brody Dalle, girlfriend of QOTSA leader Josh Homme. The pair offered vocals on an as-yet-untitled cut earmarked for Queens’ in-progress new studio album. “It was so much fun,” Manson wrote on Garbage’s official Web site. “[Dalle] has a crazy voice. She can really sing and what’s even cooler about her is that she has no f***ing idea just how good she is.” Manson was similarly enthused about the progress of the QOTSA album. “It’s great,” she said. “Really REALLY great. You’ll love it. And how Josh Homme is not yet a household name is quite beyond me.” As previously reported, QOTSA were previously joined in the studio by ZZ Top guitarist Billy F. Gibbons. The album will be the group’s first since the departure of bassist Nick Oliveri; Eleven principal Alain Johannes is believed to be playing bass on the sessions.

• Sparta drummer Tony Hajjar was injured early this week during daily intramurals with tourmates Incubus. Since Hajjar is unable to play for at least a week, Sparta prepared to drop itself from the remaining dates; however Incubus drummer Jose Pasillas and bassist Ben Kenney have helped out. The tour ends next Wednesday at the L.A. Forum.

• The documentary Wise Old Little Boy, a portrait of The Microphones’ Phil Elverum and Little Wings’ Kyle Field, will be available on DVD on October 26th. Included in the film are live performances, backyard practices, and conversations designed to create an intimate look at the musicians and their audience. About an hour of extra material is included in the DVD release. Trailers are available right here.

• Q and Not U is back on the road. The group’s third full-length album, Power, will be out this October, but in the meantime, you can catch them on the road with El Guapo and The Apes throughout the fall.

• ZZZZ, made up from members of Sweep the Leg Johnny, Tekulvi, Spanakorzo, and Swing Kids, has signed with Polyvinyl Records. A split 7-inch with an as-yet unknown band will be out this fall, followed by a full-length produced by the Paper Chase’s John Congleton in spring 2005.

• Hot Snakes is preparing for an October 5th release for its latest offering, Audit in Progress, available on, of course, CD and (less obviously) red vinyl LP. Audit in Progress marks the first recordings with new drummer Mario Rubalcaba, who’s worked with Rocket From the Crypt, Black Heart Procession, Clikitat Ikatowi, Sea of Tombs, and others. A warm-up tour for the album kicks off September 30th, and the group doesn’t plan to get off the road until the end of summer ’05.

The Pixies Stir Up Rumors About New Album

In an article published in the New York Times, the prolific Pixies and those closely associated with them, hinted at the idea that the band would record an album of new material, possibly to be released next year. This hypothetical record would be the first studio-album since 1991′s Trompe le Monde. The band’s long-tenured agent, Marc Geiger said that he has hopes that the band will enter the studio in early 2005 and put out some new material. Pixies head, Frank Black concurred by saying, “I have thought of that concept, yes. I wouldn’t mind asking Tom Waits to produce us. Why not? I like the way his records sound.” No details regarding this hypothetical record have been released, no date, no track list, nothing. All anyone knows is that this album may or may not be made, depending on the whim of the Pixies. Currently the band is recuperating from extensive touring, and gearing up for a hell of a lot more beginning in the fall.

Beach Boys-Heavy Musical Heads To Broadway

“Good Vibrations,” a new musical using more than 30 Beach Boys songs, will open on Broadway in January. The show will begin preview performances in early December at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre. An opening date has not been announced. “Good Vibrations” has a book by Richard Dresser and centers around a group of small-town teenagers who move to Southern California. It will be directed and choreographed by John Carrafa, who created the dance sequences for “Urinetown” and the Vanessa Williams-starring revival of “Into the Woods.” Among the songs expected to be used in the show are such Beach Boys classics as “Good Vibrations,” “Fun, Fun, Fun,” “California Girls,” “Help Me, Rhonda,” “Surf City,” “Surfer Girl” and “Surfin’ Safari.” The show had a recent workshop production at New York Stage & Film, a summer festival located on the campus of Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

Sahara Hotnights:: Kiss & Tell (album review)

The Female Hives. The Swedish Donnas. Whatever you want to call them, the four women who make up Sahara Hotnights certainly know their way around vintage riffs and leather jackets. They take enormous leads from early ’80s new-wave bands like Blondie and Romeo Void. But what sounds great on paper feels like hollow tribute on closer inspection. Singer Maria Andersson’s obvious difficulty with the English language gets in the way (and not even in a cute way) when she’s trying to rock out on songs like “Hot Night Crash” and “Mind Over Matter.” Others are so clunky it’s hard to have a good time listening to them. Not so hot. Stick to their previous release Jennie Bomb it’s a much better effort. (via E!)

Wilson To ‘Smile’ On U.S. Audiences

Former Beach Boys mastermind Brian Wilson will bring his long-awaited “Smile” live performances to the United States this fall, after debuting the “lost masterpiece” in concert in the United Kingdom and Europe earlier this year. The U.S. tour will kick off Sept. 30 in Minneapolis, with 21 dates announced so far. Shows are scheduled through Nov. 2 in Los Angeles and include a two-night stand at famed New York venue Carnegie Hall. As previously reported, a re-recorded version of the album will be released Sept. 28 on Nonesuch Records. “Smile” was intended as the follow-up to the Beach Boys’ classic 1966 album “Pet Sounds,” but the sessions were cut short and the project abandoned. It has since grown in cult status as one of rock’s most notorious “lost” albums. In concert, Wilson performs the reconstituted album in its entirety with his 10-piece band and a strings-and-brass ensemble. He’ll also perform a separate set of Beach Boys and solo tunes, including material from his most recent solo album “Gettin’ in Over My Head” (Rhino).

Wilson is also scheduled to appear Aug. 19 on CNN’s “Larry King Live.”

Here are Brian Wilson’s tour dates:

Ken Stringfellow:: Soft Commands (Album Review)

I think Ken Stringfellow benefits from having other artists around him. The Posies. R.E.M. Big Star, for christsakes. A veritable who’s who of power pop titans from the last three decades. I loved The Posies. Smart, raucous rock-n-roll, too poppy sweet for the grunge era they inhabited. But they were, more often than not, perfect. I’ll admit I haven’t followed Mr. Stringfellows’ solo career until now, with “Soft Commands”. I wanted to love this album, to have it live in perpetual repeat on my car stereo for at least, oh, three weeks. Sadly, no. Not that this is a bad album. No, just awkward and a tad bit schizophrenic. The opening track “You Drew” stumbles, but by track two hope arrives. My God, this boy can sing. Sweet, hopeful, melancholy, even a tinge of the maudlin. And the lyrics are as smart and poetic as always. I guess maybe the musical stylings are the failing of “Soft Commands”. All the usual references are here, but something you can’t quite put your finger on makes this album uneven. And it’s not just the dub reggae instrumental that shows up three-quarters of the way through. It’s just that for every spiritual Squeeze-like “Let Me Do” or “For Your Sake” there’s a clunker like “Don’t Die”. Maybe the three years it took to write and record this album hindered the flow. Maybe Ken’s influences were in flux. I just don’t know. But as one of pop music’s most enthusiastic cheerleaders, I guess I had higher hopes. But all that aside, to produce an album of such flawed grace is no mean feat. And the moments of perfection do outweigh the mere mediocre. If you are a pop music fan do yourself a favor and check out all of Ken’s work. And it you are already a Ken fan, buy this album now and wallow in its off-kilter beauty. Cincinnati lifts 1979 ban prompted by deadly Who concert

CINCINNATI, Ohio (AP) — The city council on Wednesday lifted a nearly 25-year ban on concert general admission seating that was imposed after 11 fans were crushed to death at a performance by the rock group The Who. The unanimous decision came after council members said some performers were skipping Cincinnati because they could not have general admission seating, often known as festival seating. They said Cincinnati was the only one among the top 50 cities for concert venues that did not allow festival seating. The fans were killed December 3, 1979, when The Who was preparing for a concert at Riverfront Coliseum, now U.S. Bank Arena. The deaths and dozens of injuries occurred when fans rushed at closed doors during a late sound check because they thought the show had started. Festival seating appeals to promoters because it is first-come, first-served, allowing the most enthusiastic fans to get near the stage and generate excitement for the rest of the crowd. Some performers and bands insist on a festival seating area near the stage. A one-time exemption to Cincinnati’s ban was granted for a Bruce Springsteen concert in 2002 and no problems resulted. City officials said the new system will limit the number of tickets for the general admission area based on the square footage of the concert location. Tickets will be sold before the day of the show, and all doors to the festival seating area will have to be opened two hours before the concert. Ushers and security personnel also will have to be in place before the doors are opened, and a written evacuation plan will be required.

‘Father’ of Southern rock dead at 89

Lacy Van Zant fathered three rock singers JACKSONVILLE, Florida (AP) — Lacy Van Zant, father of members of the Southern rock bands Lynyrd Skynyrd and .38 Special, died Tuesday of pulmonary illness. Van Zant died at his Jacksonville home, according to a release posted on Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Web site He was the father of Ronnie Van Zant, the founder of Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Johnny Van Zant, the band’s current lead singer. Ronnie Van Zant and two other band members died in a 1977 plane crash near McComb, Mississippi. Another son, Donnie Van Zant, was a member of .38 Special. Van Zant, known for his long beard, white hair and overalls, purchased music equipment, drove the bands to shows, lent them money and repaired their vehicles. Early versions of Lynyrd Skynyrd would practice at his home, which he later opened to fans so they could see the bands’ gold and platinum records. “He was the father of Southern rock ‘n’ roll, as far as I am concerned,” Johnny Van Zant told The Florida Times-Union on Wednesday. Lynyrd Skynyrd will postpone its show Friday in Louisville, Kentucky, to September 26, and its show Saturday in Greenville, Wisconsin, to August 20, according to the band’s Web site.

Meat Puppets Bassist Sentenced To Jail

Cris Kirkwood was sentenced yesterday (Aug. 2) to 21 months in prison for attacking a security guard with a baton outside a post office. The 43 former Meat Puppets bassist pleaded guilty May 10 in Mesa, Ariz., to a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon. He was shot during the Dec. 26 incident at the post office in downtown Phoenix and authorities said he was on probation at the time for a 2000 drug offense. According to the criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court, Kirkwood was arguing with a woman about a parking space outside the post office when she approached security guard Thomas Goodrum. Kirkwood yelled profanities at Goodrum, then shoved the security guard. In the ensuing scuffle, Kirkwood managed to get Goodrum’s collapsible baton away from him and hit him on the head, knocking off the guard’s eyeglasses. Goodrum then pulled his handgun and fired a shot into Kirkwood’s back, the complaint states. Kirkwood, who was on probation for a prior drug offense at the time of the arrest, could have received as much as 27 months in prison.

Beta Band Calls It Quits

Eclectic U.K. rock act the Beta Band will split before year’s end, according to its official Web site. The group in May released its latest Parlophone Astralwerks album “Heroes to Zeroes,” which debuted at No. 18 on the U.K. album chart. “Sadly, eight years of hard work and critical acclaim but little return in terms of commercial success inevitably takes its toll and a group decision was made to finally lay the band to rest,” the site says. Group members Steve Mason and Richard Greentree are at work on solo albums, while John Maclean will keep “his foot in the musical door” while also pursuing opportunities in film. “The same can be said for Robin [Jones], who’ll also divide his time between his twin loves, film and music,” the site says. The band is planning a final U.K. tour this fall, with dates to be announced. Beforehand, a handful of summer festivals remain, beginning Aug. 13 at France’s La Route du Rock and wrapping Aug. 24 at Edinburgh’s T on the Fringe event. Parlophone is also eyeing a 2005 release for a comprehensive DVD featuring music videos and film clips.

Oliveri stranded

Nick Oliveri, the former bass player for Queens Of The Stone Age, has described how members of his new band, Mondo Generator, abandoned him in the middle of the German countryside. Band mates Dave Catching, Molly Mcguire, and Alfredo Hernandez left Oliveri stranded following an incident when he attacked a soundman at a previous evening’s gig. Apparently, after becoming agitated by what he perceived as the poor sound, Oliveri jumped from the stage and broke the nose and teeth of the unfortunate engineer. The band’s subsequent show in Cervia, Italy was cancelled. Writing in a diary on their official website mondogenerator.com, Oliveri writes: “I’m sorry to have to cancel the accoustic (sic) show in Cervia…I have never in 16 years of playing shows and touring canceled (sic). “I am extremely angry about this and will make it up to you. The truth is I was asked to leave the bus we have been touring on, and was left on the side of the road in Germany somewhere.” Oliveri was kicked out of Queens Of The Stone Age earlier this year. Singer and guitartist, Josh Homme, said of his former bandmate: “He’s a tornado, and a tornado just destroys and goes on to the next city. I’m in the tornado cleanup crew, and all I ever see is his detritus and I’m sick of it.”
