Elliott Smith resurrected

Elliott Smith’s voice will be heard on a forthcoming Jon Spencer Blues Explosion album. “Damage”, the follow-up to 2002’s “Plastic Fang” album, is currently being mixed in New York ahead of an autumn release. Eponymous frontman Spencer revealed: “This is the mother of all Blues Explosion records!… We even have some crazy guy playing shark’s teeth and sheep testicles!” Recorded with “Plastic Fang” producer Steve Jordan and Alan Moulder, the album also features contributions from DJ Shadow, David Holmes, Chuck D and Martina Topley-Bird. Smith had been working with Jon Spencer Blues Explosion shortly before his suicide in October last year, and “Damage” is likely to be his first posthumous release. The last album Smith recorded for his US label Dreamworks was rejected, and friends and family are now working with “Figure 8” producer Rob Schnapf to release the record themselves. The album, expected to be titled “Songs From A Basement On The Hill”, is being finished in accordance with “Elliott’s vision” for a late 2004 release, according to fansite
